Women and Children’s Shelter is Now Complete

FORT WORTH, Texas – Linbeck Group recently completed the $8.4-million Presbyterian Night Shelter’s Morris Foundation Women & Children’s Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Construction on the project began April 1, 2015 and was completed on schedule and on budget using, among other technological tools and processes, BIM 360 Field.

“This is more than just another construction project for our Fort Worth team. We were able to take ownership by supporting the shelter’s mission in making the space a temporary home by decorating a room with all the essentials including lamps, bed linens, laundry supplies, baby essentials and more,” said Lizandro Paiz, Linbeck project manager.

Demand for a new facility to provide permanent supportive housing in Fort Worth’s Tarrant County was necessary following a 67 percent increase in the number of children served between 2013 and 2014.

Located near the main Presbyterian Night Shelter, the new two-story, 30,000-square-foot women and children’s facility features private rooms and semi-private bathrooms to serve up to 40 families. Other features include large study and recreation spaces, and partner agencies, including the Women’s Center of Tarrant County, Cook Children’s Medical Center and the Fort Worth school district, will have dedicated offices.

Others on the Design-Build team include architect of record Bennett, Benner Partners; CJG Engineers (structural); Baird, Hampton & Brown (civil) and The Brandt Companies (MEP).
