Construction Employment Increases In 230 of 358 Metro Areas from May 2022 to May 2023

Construction employment increased in 230, or 64%, of 358 metro areas between May 2022 and May 2023, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America of new government employment data. Association officials cautioned, however, that it is getting harder for firms to find workers as the unemployment rate for the construction sector continues to fall. Dallas-Plano-Irving, Texas added the most construction jobs (11,600 jobs or 8%), followed by New York City (9,600 jobs, 7%); Columbus, Ohio (6,100 jobs, 13%); Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell, Ga. Construction Employment Rises in 36 States in August Year-Over-Year

Thirty-six states added construction jobs between August 2015 and August 2016 while construction employment increased in only 24 states between July and August, according to analysis of Labor Department data recently released by the Associated General Contractors of America.
