A construction milestone was recently celebrated with the topping out of a new five-story office building in downtown Huntsville, Alabama. Once complete, the five-story, 77,000-square-foot office building will provide Class A office space and ground floor retail. Bank Independent’s Madison County headquarters will anchor the building on the ground floor and will occupy offices on the second and fifth floors. Gilbane Building Company has begun construction phase activities for the 224,000-square-foot build-out and expansion project at the former Sears building at the Cambridgeside Galleria in Massachusetts. Construction Begins on Converge Logistics Center in Phoenix

Work is underway on a three-building industrial development that sits along Interstate 10 in Phoenix, Arizona. ViaWest Group and its building partners Willmeng Construction, Butler Design Group and Kimley-Horn broke ground on the 512,710-square-foot Converge Logistics Center in January. ViaWest Group signed a 77-year ground lease with Kyrene School District on the 28.6-acre parcel. This infill, Class A industrial development will feature three structures, with Building A being the largest at 210,670 square feet. Skanska Builds Office Building, Movie Theater in Tysons Corner

Skanska has signed a contract with The Meridian Group & Rockefeller Group to build a new office building and movie theater in Tysons Corner in Virginia. The contract is worth $167 million. Skanska will build the new 20-story, approximately 460,000-square-feet Class A office building, and a more than 107,000-square-foot movie theater both constructed over a shared 5-level, below-grade parking garage. The office project will be seeking LEED Gold certification.

Skanska USA Builds Alamo Colleges Administration Complex in San Antonio

Skanska USA has signed a contract with Alamo Colleges to build its new District Support Operations Administration Complex in San Antonio, Texas. The contract is worth $45 million. The new facility will include approximately 52,000 square feet of class A office space, 500 parking spaces, office suites, a conference center, campus police headquarters and dispatch and a central utility plant. Construction will begin in January 2017 and is slated for completion in July 2018.
