Hallmark Construction Wins Fifth Consecutive Safety Award

Hallmark Construction has won the prestigious Excellence in Safety Award for five consecutive years.

Santa Clara, Calif. — Precipitous cost cutting by contractors has shrunk safety programs and ballooned risk to property owners and managers. Hallmark Construction of Santa Clara, CA has demonstrated its commitment to investing in safety, employees, and clients with its fifth consecutive Excellence in Safety Award from the Construction Employers" Association (CEA).

In receiving the CEA Award, Hallmark Construction continues to meet the strictest standards of a total incident and lost workday rate of 50% below the industry average, and an Experience Modification Rating (EMR) well below industry average (industry average EMR is 1.00). Owners and managers can look at a contractor's EMR, total incidents, and lost workday rate to help determine a contractor's safety performance.

Hallmark Construction's safety program, implementation and execution are critical to ensuring accidents and violations are avoided, and a project is completed on time and within budget. Don Romano, industry veteran and Project Manager at Hallmark Construction said “any type of safety incident will affect the owner with possible delays in the project schedule, disruption to their operation, and in the event of a major incident, OSHA (Occupational Health & Safety Administration) would be on site inspecting all operations, not only construction activities, but the owners as well.” Property owners and managers may be exposed to administrative costs, investigation costs, and costs for legal consultation.

Hallmark Construction achieves exemplary results through meticulous, comprehensive project and safety planning, continuous safety training of all employees, and rigorous safety inspections and follow-through. Investing in an effective safety program is an essential, ethical, and responsible business practice affecting all of a project's stakeholders. As Hallmark Construction's General Superintendant Dave Bagley said, “This attention to detail not only protects the interests of our clients, but also allows our employees to return safely to their families every night.”

Hallmark Construction is one of Northern California's leading general contractors, with a well-earned reputation for quality, integrity, and client loyalty.   The company's specialties include new building construction (including design-build services) tenant improvements, technology sector construction, sustainable “green” building, and more.   Currently, Hallmark Construction maintains projects up and down Northern California's coast while operating from its Santa Clara headquarters and its satellite office in Pacific Grove, outside of Monterey
