NCCER Announces 2017 Board of Trustees

ALACHUA, Fla. — NCCER elected Chip Reid, CEO of Current Builders in Pompano Beach, Florida, as its 2017 board of trustees’ chairman. Reid succeeds Ed Cassady, CEO of Energy Services in Nashville, Tennessee, who remains a member of the executive committee. C. Rockwell Turner, president of LPR Construction, will serve as the 2017 vice chairman. Other members of the executive committee for the 2017 board of trustees include Andy Dupuy, president and CEO of Brown & Root, as secretary and Vincent Giardina, trustee for the Oscar J. Partnerships Help Grow Female Interest in Apprenticeships

FAIRFAX, Va. – To those outside the industry, sheet metal work may seem like a man’s world. Internally, journeywomen are thriving, and although the percentage of female sheet metal apprentices is at 4.2 percent, that’s double what it was only two years ago, according to the International Training Institute, the education arm of the unionized sheet metal, welding and air conditioning industry. New Credentialing Portal Provides Construction Career Opportunities for Veterans

ALACHUA, Fla. – Part of the Build Your Future military initiative, NCCER has recently released the first of its kind military credentialing portal. The Hard Hat Heroes Credentialing Portal allows veterans to receive NCCER credit for skills and training they already received while in the service. Each individual that meets the criteria can fill out an online application and submit documentation to be reviewed and potentially entered into the NCCER Registry System.
