Corna Kokosing Construction has Perfect Safety Record in 2010

Year Without an OSHA Recordable Incident Results in Industry Recognition

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Corna Kokosing Construction Company completed the 2010 calendar year without an OSHA recordable incident. This perfect safety record has been recognized by the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America. Corna Kokosing completed more than 370,000 hours worked with zero recordable incidents. The company has been selected as a finalist for the 12th annual AGC/WILLIS Construction Safety Excellence Awards.

“The best part of accomplishing a zero incident rate in 2010 is that it means all Corna Kokosing associates went home from work in the same condition they left home in 2010,” President Mark Corna said. “We work in a hazardous industry and the only way to achieve zero incidents is for all Corna Kokosing associates on all of our sites to identify hazards and plan safety into the work process to contain or eliminate those hazards. Our efforts in the last two years have focused on developing a culture of safety that emphasizes a ‘Safety 24/7’ approach. We train our associates to be safe at home and at play as well as at work so that safety becomes a habit and not something that is turned on and off,” Corna said.

A number of elements are considered when calculating work-related incidents and injuries. These include total recordable incidents, which consists of fatalities, lost workday injuries, restricted workday injuries, other recordable cases, number of days away from work, and the number of days of job transfer or restriction.
