CHICAGO, Ill. — Officials of the 100-year-old American Society of Safety Engineers" (ASSE) 2011 Exposition announced that the Chicago exposition, opened Sunday, is a record breaker. Held in conjunction with ASSE's Professional Development Conference (PDC) being held June 12-15 at the Chicago McCormick Place Convention Center, the expo features close to 500 exhibitors and sold 75,000 square feet. It is ASSE's largest expo ever in its 100 year history. The 2011 expo exceeded last year's record breaking numbers in Baltimore which had just over 400 exhibitors who reserved 62,000 square feet in display space.
Exhibitors range from large corporations to nonprofit organizations and colleges, showcasing cutting edge safety technology, information, safety and health products and available programs and classes for interested professionals. Many organizations feature interactive displays and encourage visitors to stop and watch demonstrations of how the newest safety products work to protect people, property and the environment.
Exhibitors at Safety 2011 include businesses such as Caterpillar, 3M, Sketchers, TruTouch Technologies, CoreTex Products, OSHA, FabEnco and several hundred more.
The ASSE exposition is held annually in conjunction with its PDC. Safety 2011, this year's PDC, runs from June 12-15 in Chicago, IL, and features more than 250 educational sessions on safety, health and environmental issues, including leadership, management, hazard recognition and elimination and technical skill development. The PDC 2011 has also exceeded its attendance record with, as of today, just over 4100 attendees from over 38 countries have traveled to Chicago for the more than 500 events tied to ASSE's 100th anniversary, PDC and expo.
