Kraus-Anderson to Build New $28.8M, 155,000 SF School in Wells, Minn.

ROCHESTER, Minn. — The Rochester office of Kraus-Anderson Construction Company, a Midwest commercial general contractor and construction manager, has been selected to build a new United South Central School in Wells, Minn., just west of Albert Lea. The new 155,000-square-foot pre K-12 school replaces the former school, portions of which were originally built in 1933.

The new $28.8-million school will be located on a 66-acre site and will feature a new bus garage and athletic facilities, including practice fields, varsity fields and tennis courts. The new pre K-12 school will serve approximately 625 students.

The United South Central School District currently serves the cities of Wells, Kiester, Bricelyn, Easton, Freeborn and Walters, Minn.

The architect is SGN/Wendel of Minneapolis. Construction will begin in spring of 2013 and is expected to be completed by September of 2014.
