Raleigh, N.C. — A groundbreaking ceremony was held recently for the new 18,400-square-foot wellness center addition to Cypress Glen Retirement Community in Greenville, N.C. Building on their mission of caring, Cypress Glen's expansion will continue to serve the community as it remains the only option in the Greenville area to offer a full continuum of care.
The $3-million addition will include a swimming pool, aerobics, weight training, spa (barber/beauty), renovated library, private dining addition, green roof terrace and necessary support components such as locker rooms, toilets, storage and more. Site development will include outdoor activity space, including a Tai Chi court and koi pond. The new facility will be open to public residents 55 and older, as well.The groundbreaking was coordinated to overlap with National Senior Health & Fitness Day. Cypress Glen residents and employees spent the day enjoying a variety of fun and fit activities, concluding with the groundbreaking ceremony in mid-afternoon.

We look forward to our new facility that will benefit residents now and in the future,” said Laure Stallings, executive director of Cypress Glenn Retirement Community.
Local dignitaries, wellness center campaign and committee members, and Cypress Glen members and staff, joined in on the momentous occasion, including Mayor Allen Thomas, Dr. Jerry Hopfengardner, Dr. Walter Pories and Dr. Mary Ann Rose.
Brasfield & Gorrie is leading construction efforts, which are expected to begin this month and complete in January 2014. SFCS, Inc. of Roanoke, Va. is the architect of record.
