The facility, expected to be completed in mid-2016, designed by Steven Holl Architects in collaboration with BNIM Architects, will replace the 1936 Art Building Facility, which was heavily damaged during a flood of the U of I campus in June 2008. It will provide studio space for ceramics, sculpture, metals, photography, printmaking, painting and drawing and 3-D multimedia. It will also include space for graduate and undergraduate student studios, faculty and staff offices, and gallery exhibit space.
