Gilbane to Provide Construction Management for High School Consolidation

GLASTONBURY, Conn. — Gilbane Building Company has been selected to provide construction management-at-risk services to the town of Enfield, Conn., for the consolidation of the town's two existing high schools, Enfield High School and Enrico Fermi High School.

The project consists of a 147,700-square-foot addition to Enfield High School, along with a 165,000-square-foot renovation of the existing school. The project will be completed in phases with 800 students remaining on campus during construction. After completion, students from Enrico Fermi High will transfer to the new Enfield Consolidated High School, which will accommodate as many as 1,700 students.

“We are thrilled to be helping the town of Enfield create this new educational facility for its students while working with the town leaders, the community and our partners on this project,” said Steve Kononchik, Gilbane's district manager for Connecticut.

Design phase activities will begin immediately. Construction will start in the spring of 2014 and be complete by August 2016.
