“This milestone event signifies the end of the building's structural construction phase and marks continued progress toward its completion next summer,” said Brasfield & Gorrie Regional Vice President Dave Naeger.
The three-story, 55,000-square-foot multipurpose structure replaces the former gymnasium, and it will include new faculty offices and an enlarged campus store. Also, the building will feature 17 state-of-the-art classrooms that will house the school's mathematics and English departments. This will be the first academic building addition to the campus since 1962.
Once the multipurpose building is completed, Brasfield & Gorrie will begin phased renovations of the existing classroom buildings. Overall, the multiphase project involves 110,000 square feet of new construction, expansion and renovation.
General contractor Brasfield & Gorrie teamed with The S/L/A/M Collaborative and Collins Project Management on the multiphase expansion and renovation, which began in 2013 and will be completed in the summer of 2015.
