Skanska USA Expands Presence in Boston

Skanska USA has named long-time industry veteran Paul Pedini as vice president of operations and regional manager of the new Cambridge, Mass. office. Pedini will also serve as the technical leader in BIM and 3-D constructability review, and analysis techniques, which will boost Skanska's ability to take on and complete projects in the New England region more efficiently.

Pedini brings more than 36 years of industry experience to Skanska, and his portfolio consists of a wide range of transportation projects Boston residents depend on each day. Prior to joining Skanska, Pedini served as senior vice president and New England regional manager at Dragados USA.

Skanska's work throughout Greater Boston has given New England some of its most vital and well-known structures, including the Central Artery Project, State Street Financial Center at One Lincoln Street, the Battery Wharf Hotel and Residences in the North End, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Second Data Center in Springfield and Terminal A at Logan International Airport, which is the country's first LEED-certified airport terminal.

Skanska's efforts can be seen throughout the Boston area via its management of the Novartis Campus Expansion Project in Cambridge and the Harvard Art Museums" expansion and renovation project, as well as the Fore River Bridge replacement and Longfellow Bridge rehabilitation projects for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. Skanska also recently broke ground at 101 Seaport in Seaport Square, and is on track to complete construction of EF Education First's 11-story new headquarters building in Cambridge.

“Skanska has a strong reputation for delivering highly complex projects,” said Pedini. “New England's combination of historic infrastructure and growing population make it a robust market for infrastructure growth. Beefing up our personnel in this market allows us to provide the Boston area with the advanced civil engineering expertise it needs to improve its infrastructure and help the area continue to thrive.”

Skanska's office on Summer Street is home to approximately 200 employees. Pedini will manage a staff of 30 employees at the new Cambridgepark Drive location.
