NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — Central Connecticut State University has awarded its 2014 Construction Industry Award to KBE Building Corp.’s Kenneth Russo. Russo is a 40-year construction industry veteran and has served as KBE’s director of preconstruction since 2002.
Russo was chosen based on criteria set by the college’s Industrial Advisory Board. In 2014, he demonstrated skill, integrity and responsibility while making a significant contribution to the architecture, engineering and construction industry. He has served on the CCSU Advisory Board for 14 years, including two years as its chairperson, and has been instrumental in ongoing improvements to CCSU’s construction management program.
“I am honored to receive this award from Central Connecticut State University, particularly because higher education project delivery is a specialty of mine,” said Russo. “It’s great to be recognized by a school with such a high standard for construction management education.”
As director of preconstruction, Russo works alongside KBE’s project executives to create a smooth transition from the preconstruction process to the construction phase. He ensures that all services meet KBE’s high standards, which include on-time and on-budget project completion.
Russo has an associate’s degree in architectural engineering from St. Mary College. He is a past president of the Connecticut Building Congress and an officer and treasurer for the American Society of Professional Estimators.
Russo received the award on May 6 during the Construction Management Awards dinner at the CCSU Campus Alumni Hall in New Britain.
