WASHINGTON, D.C. — The United States General Services Administration has awarded Clark a $77-million contract for the Phase 1C Modernization of the Harry S. Truman Building.
Originally constructed in 1939, the Harry S. Truman Building is home to the U.S. Department of State. The scope of work includes the demolition of the interior of the building and complete hazardous material abatement. The building’s historic façade will be reinforced with structural steel and existing windows will be replaced with blast-resistant glass. Working alongside the GSA, as well as architect and engineer, Westlake Reed Leskosky, Clark also will provide progressive collapse mitigation, improve the core architectural finishes and upgrade all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, communication, fire protection, circulation and security systems.
Clark’s scope of work also includes a 300,000-square-foot interior tenant fit-out of the space. Office areas will be constructed based on the Department of State’s criteria and will include collaborative space with demountable partitions. Clark also will construct ADA-compliant corridors and restrooms.
Construction is expected to commence in March 2015 and substantial completion is scheduled for June 2017.
