Hill & Wilkinson General Contractors Commence Construction of New Armed Services YMCA of Killeen, Texas

RICHARDSON, Texas β€” Hill & Wilkinson General Contractors recently broke ground on the new 55,000-square-foot Armed Services YMCA located at 100 W. Mountain Lion Road in Harker Heights, a suburb of Killeen, Texas.

When completed, the new facility will include indoor competition and therapy pools, a physical therapy clinic, child watch and adventure center for children, a gymnasium, cardio/wellness areas, group exercise studios, a nutritional kitchen, multipurpose rooms, counseling offices, administration areas, lobby and member service center and full locker/shower facilities. The $12-million project also includes associated sitework, landscape and hardscape improvements that complement the adjoining residential neighborhood and park.

According to Kristy Attaway, director of preconstruction services for the firm’s Central Texas office, β€œThe ASYMCA will be a destination place for the entire community with areas that will serve everyone from young children to seniors. This center will have the latest fitness equipment, fantastic play areas for children, a reading area, juice bar, teaching kitchen, wellness areas and competitive athletics. We are proud to have been selected to build the Armed Services YMCA and to work with such an outstanding project team.”

In addition to Hill & Wilkinson General Contractors, the project team is comprised of Studio 8 Architect; Bury, civil; CJG, structural; Bay & Associates, MEP; Water Technologies, aquatics and TBG, landscape. Completion is slated for February 2016.
