MYCON General Contractors Completes $2.3M Renovation of Cinemark in Grand Prairie, Texas

MYCON Cinemark-GP-ReducedMcKINNEY, Texas — MYCON General Contractors has completed a $2.3-million renovation of the Cinemark movie theater located at 220 E. Westchester Parkway in Grand Prairie, Texas.

The 43,059-square-foot renovation involved numerous, multifaceted challenges, including:

  • Converting the traditional 15-sloped floor auditoriums to state-of-the-art electric recliners
  • Renovating the corridors, restrooms, lobby, game room and back-of-house operations with improved finishes
  • Creating an interior ticket office and concession area with new casework, high-end finishes and food service equipment
  • Updating the façade to promote the new interior upgrades
  • Installing a 60-foot electric signage tower visible to the adjacent freeway

“The building remained open during this extensive renovation,” says Justin Jeffus, MYCON's vice president of the retail division, “but we believe this newly remodeled Cinemark will be well received by theater patrons.”

In addition to MYCON General Contractors, the project team included TK Architects for design, structural and mechanical engineering.
