The Constitution Gardens project is a 38-acre site located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., bordered by Constitution Avenue, the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
The Phase 1 portion of the project will be focused on the northeast corner and edge of the site. It is intended to refresh the area along the highly traveled Constitution Avenue, making the park more inviting to visitors and residents alike. The initial phase will put special emphasis on general site work and landscaping of the site. Additionally, Hensel Phelps will be responsible for the relocation, expansion and rehabilitation of the 183-year-old Lockkeeper's House currently located within the Constitution Gardens site. This portion of the project will be completed by July 2016, in time for the National Park Service's Centennial Celebration in August.
