HOUSTON, Texas — Kevin Virag, regional safety director for Gilbane Building Company was recently honored by the Associated General Contractors of America with its Ray Lambright Excellence in Safety Award.
The AGC Houston Safety Committee established the award in 1993 to honor and recognize Ray Lambright, Olshan Companies, whose career spanned more than 37 years and was instrumental in instituting many of the safety training programs and policies followed today.
This award recognizes the best and brightest safety professionals in the construction industry and recipients must demonstrate outstanding leadership in directing their company’s safety and health program to advance the safety of all construction workers.
Other factors the voting committee looks at include a commitment to their community through public service, continual self-improvement through education and training, as well as teaching others, contributions to AGC and other safety-related unique qualities or capabilities. Nominees are voted on by past winners of the award.
