PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Construction Users Roundtable presented Gilbane Building Company with its highest honor: the Construction Industry Safety Excellence Award. The award recognizes commendable safety performance of individual constructor firms over a sustained time period. The award is intended to convey CURT’s strong support of safety performance and emphasizes safe construction as a key component of cost-effective project delivery.
The CISE award winners are evaluated on critical safety requirements, including:
- OSHA injury/illness statistical data for the contractor’s site personnel from OSHA 300 logs
- Effectiveness in managing subcontractor’s safety performance
- The contractor’s safety management system as it pertains to implementation of the CURT R-807 Construction Owner’s Safety Blueprint
- Review of safety performance with three client companies for whom the constructor recently performed work
Gilbane Building Company and its jobsite safety programs were also recently honored by the Associated Builders and Contractors with its STEP Diamond Award. Given as part of its Safety Training and Evaluation Process program, the Diamond Award is the highest level recognition offered by this national construction industry association.
