McCownGordon Completes Forensic Laboratory Center at Washburn University

Nov15 CSeNews KBI1TOPEKA, Kan. — McCownGordon Construction recently completed the Kansas Bureau of Investigation's $55-million forensic laboratory.  

Housed on the Washburn University campus in Topeka, Kansas, the 100,000-square-foot, leading-edge crime lab houses spaces dedicated to biology, DNA, toxicology, chemistry, firearm/tool mark, latent prints, trace evidence, digital forensics, vehicle processing and evidence storage.

The facility was built in partnership with Washburn University and will also be home to the college's forensic department, allowing students to learn in the same facility as industry experts.

Nov15 CSeNews KBI2The McCownGordon team worked hand-in-hand with PGAV Architects under a construction management at risk delivery to create the state-of-the-art facility.

The firm recently completed the Big Well Museum in Greensburg, Kansas, and is building the new Regional Aquatic Facility in Dodge City, Kansas.
