GLASTONBURY, Conn. – Gilbane Building Company was recently honored by the Associated General Contractors of Connecticut with its Build Connecticut Award for the construction of the new patient tower—Peter and Carmen Lúcia Buck Pavilion—at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, Connecticut.
The new 13-story, more than 300,000-square-foot new patient tower, designed by The SLAM Collaborative, was a major initiative for Danbury Hospital, a regional medical center and university teaching hospital. All existing patient care functions remained active throughout construction of the new 13-story north tower clinical addition.
The addition features three new 25-bed medical/surgical floors, a new 30-bed intensive care unit, a 90,000-square-foot state-of-the-art emergency department and a healing garden “Oasis” as the new centerpiece to a distinctively landscaped entry sequence. The project is currently targeting LEED Gold certification.
The Build Connecticut Award recognizes contractors and is selected by a panel of judges representing all sectors of the commercial construction industry in Connecticut.
