LOS ANGELES, Calif. – General contractor, PCL Construction donated its resources and time to fully renovate the Los Angeles Mission’s outdoor restroom facility in Los Angeles, California, at no cost.
The city of Los Angeles required the LA Mission provide an accessible restroom, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, which could remain open to the public 24/7. In addition, the facility was in desperate need of renovation and had no door. PCL Construction worked with the Mission and subcontractors to donate their time and resources to self-perform the renovation of the facility.
“We are extremely grateful to PCL and its partners for constructing this extremely needed facility at the Los Angeles Mission, said Herb Smith, president and CEO of the Los Angeles Mission. “Ending homelessness begins with little steps like a meal or bathroom. Thank you for making life just a little kinder to our friends and neighbors experiencing homelessness.”
The work completed included adding a fence and gate, moving the entrance and adding a door. A stall and sink were added inside the renovated restroom, an external light was added for visibility and an occupancy light was added to the door.
The project was completed in four weeks and the facility is open to the public.
