New Clemson University Center for Nursing, Health Innovation and Research in Greenville Topped Out

GREENVILLE, S.C . – Brasfield & Gorrie joined Clemson University and Greenville Health System last week to mark a milestone in the construction of the new Clemson University Center for Nursing, Health Innovation and Research on the GHS Greenville Memorial Medical Campus in South Carolina.

The team topped out the new four-story nursing academic and health research building, signaling the completion of the final level of the building’s concrete structure.

The $31.5-million will house an expansion of Clemson’s traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in an effort to meet a growing need for nurses and bolster health innovation and research efforts.

Students are expected to begin coursework at Clemson’s Center for Nursing, Health Innovation and Research in fall 2018, after completing their first two years at the main Clemson University campus. The facility will offer a hospital-like environment with virtual reality IV simulators and high-fidelity human patient simulators, classrooms and offices.

More than 90 Clemson faculty health researchers are working across the GHS campuses with clinicians on projects with immediate potential impact for patients. The new building will include space that will facilitate collaboration of interdisciplinary healthcare research.

Serving as construction manager-at-risk, Brasfield & Gorrie is teaming with Batson Architects on this project for Hughes Development Corporation.
