Rosendin Electric Receives Grand Award for Construction Safety Excellence

19th Annual Construction Safety Excellence Awards breakfast at the 99th Annual AGC Convention.

Rosendin Electric was honored with the 2018 Grand Award for Construction Safety Excellence at the 19th Annual Construction Safety Excellence Awards. Rosendin also received the first place award for Specialty Contractor over three million man-hours.

The CSEA program, sponsored by Willis Towers Watson, has been an ongoing and evolving effort by AGC of America to recognize companies who have developed and implemented excellent safety and loss prevention programs achieved through management commitment, employee training and participation and program innovation. In total, 59 contractors from across the nation competed for this award.

In 2017, Rosendin worked 9,933,678 man-hours, with a total recordable incident rate of .91. The company’s implemented policies and training have helped diminish jobsite hazards and involve employees and subcontracted employees in every aspect of safety. These include:

  • Stop Work Card: a principle that empowers all Rosendin employees to judge any work situation and stop work at any time if they feel unsafe
  • “5Why” Accident Investigation Form: focuses on discovering the root cause of the accident and the “whys” as to why each step occurred
  • Pre-Task Plan Policy: helps employees stay focused, organized and recognize hazards before they commence work and throughout their day; iPads provide digital PTP with links to access permits remotely
  • Tool Training Poster: provides QR codes for training and proper-use videos, accessible on any smart device, for every tool in use
  • Methods of Procedures, Step-by-Step, QA/QC: during energization and testing programs, these allow for time validation and ensure the correct precautions are taken
  • Real-Time Auditing: controls and keeps track of hazards, in real-time, for Rosendin’s safety team and field supervisors to identify and maintain safe work environments

Rosendin’s safety hotline is available to all employees to report hazard, and continuing education/training, through Rosendin University. It includes forklifts, confined space, NFPA 70E, OSHA 30-hour, Emergency and Crisis Management and Motor Vehicle Operator training.
