The design of the Morsani College of Medicine and Heart Institute is complete and building construction is underway with the concrete structure of the lower seven of 13 stories completed. Interior spaces have been designed to be innovative, flexible and collaborative between academic, medical research and clinical trial usage. Key components incorporated into the design include a knowledge exchange/library resource center, auditorium, labs, classrooms and café. Plans for cutting-edge technology and infrastructure with a wide range of functionality reflect the project team’s forward-thinking focus to revolutionize the space.
A key anchor in Water Street Tampa, a $3-billion pedestrian-friendly real estate development by Strategic Property Partners in downtown Tampa, the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and Heart Institute is the first building under construction. Located at a prominent intersection of one of the new district’s communicating plazas, the facility’s prime location, just steps from Amalie Arena, ensures a lasting legacy for USF in an amenity-rich, vibrant community.
Slated for completion in late 2019, the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and Heart Institute will be in close proximity to Tampa General Hospital, University of South Florida’s primary teaching hospital, and a short walking distance from the USF Health Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation, one of the world’s largest simulation centers exclusively dedicated to training healthcare students and professionals.
