TDIndustries recently earned two Associated Builders and Contractors’ awards at the 29th Annual Excellence in Construction Awards celebration.

The contractor earned an Eagle Excellence in Construction Award for its work on the Texas Health Resources Recovery and Wellness Center in Mansfield, Texas. The award is the greatest possible honor for a specialty construction project, with this entry coming in the under-$10 million category.

The recovery and wellness center, a voluntary-admission addiction recovery facility, was created to evoke calmness, luxury and wellness. It includes guest wings, treatment and meeting rooms, a café, full kitchen, a two-story lobby, yoga studio and movie theater. TD provided Design-Build services on this 77,000-square-foot campus, installing 66,000 pounds of ductwork, 16,100 linear feet of HVAC piping and 32,200 linear feet of plumbing pipe. Virtual design, Building Information Modeling, Lean principles and collaboration were key to TD’s success.

Additionally, E.E. Reed Construction received a Pyramid Award in the $25-100 million category for the Houston Kirby Collection project—a luxury mixed-use, 1.25-million-square-foot tower. TD performed mechanical and plumbing construction on this project.

TD also earned the Pinnacle Award, one of the top safety honors in the nation, for its commitment to protecting the safety of all partners (employee-owners).

To be eligible for this honor, TD and other mechanical contractors first had to obtain diamond, platinum or gold status in ABC’s STEP Safety Management System in 2019. Entries were judged on self-evaluation scores, lost workday case rates, total recordable incident rates, leading indicator use, process and program innovations, and video interviews conducted by members of ABC’s National Safety and Health Committee.

According to ABC’s annual Safety Performance Report, the average STEP Diamond company is more than six times safer than the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ average for the entire industry, based on total recordable incident rates.

Additionally, general contractor Rogers O’Brien Construction also earned a Pinnacle Award and Austin Commercial won an Excellence Award.
