Turner Construction Company is marking the firm’s 50th anniversary of the Turner School of Construction Management program. The program is Turner’s longest-running community-based program. Established in 1969 in an effort to improve the economic viability of under-represented business enterprises and increase the number and quality of opportunities available to growing businesses, it quickly became a successful path for Turner to develop strategic business relationships in the communities where the company builds.
The program provides business owners with courses on topics such as safety, risk management, estimating, financial literacy and project management.
Since the program’s establishment, there have been more than 30,000 graduates. During 2018 alone, 24 sessions were held, graduating more than 650 people. The program has helped Turner build successful long-term relationships with under-represented business enterprises (UBE’s representing minority, women, disabled, veteran and LGBT-owned businesses).
