NARI Updates Key Certification to Keep Remodelers ahead of Changing Industry Demands

To align remodeling professionals with newly emerging industry best practices and technologies, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry will introduce a comprehensive update to its Universal Design Certified Professional certification in early 2021.

This important certification announcement showcases the commitment of NARI to lead the remodeling industry as demand for universal design projects continues to show steady growth. The updated UDCP certification will be supported by an all-new study guide and examination, and approved by a certification board comprised of select certified remodelers.

The UDCP certification update marks the third NARI certification to be adjusted to meet member needs in just three years. In January 2019, a fully revised exam and study guide for the Certified Remodeler was added to cover business and building science subject matter. And in January 2020, the association introduced changes to the Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler certification to encompass new topics in universal design and lighting.

Presently, NARI offers eight total certifications including Certified Remodeler, Certified Remodeler Specialist, Certified Remodeler Associate, Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler, Certified Lead Carpenter, Certified Remodeling Project Manager and Universal Design Certified Professional. All of these designations require members to pass a proctored examination to demonstrate competency and knowledge.

Exams for all NARI certifications are held in May, August/September and December 2020. Exam dates for the NARI certifications may be found at www.nari.org.
