Golden West Language Arts Complex Tops Out

The Language Arts Complex at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California recently topped out. Sundt Construction served as the general contractor on the project — the third project on the campus and fourth project for the Coast Community College District.

Located near the main entrance of the campus, the new complex is three stories, just over 72,000 square feet, and will support the growing needs of the school’s language arts programs. The project adds classrooms, computer labs, gathering, office and support spaces and a reading, writing and resource center.

The team had to oversee the demolition of two existing buildings to make way for this new complex. The complex will reduce the campus’s energy consumption by utilizing daylighting strategies, natural ventilation, native landscaping, modern LED fixtures and more.

This will be the final major project on this campus completed under the Coast Community College District’s Measure M program, which was passed by voters in November 2014. Measure M provides modern facilities to support the district’s science and arts programs.
