Skanska USA’s building operations has adopted the CHIPS Women in Construction Framework and support for the Million Women in Construction initiative.
Launched by the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Million Women in Construction initiative seeks to expand the U.S. construction workforce by “increasing the participation of women and economically disadvantaged individuals” in the construction industry over the next decade. As part of this initiative, the CHIPS Women in Construction Framework identifies five best recruiting and retention practices and commits companies to work with all stakeholders in these areas.
The CHIPS Women in Construction Framework centers on five practice areas: 1) setting goals and monitoring progress; 2) building community partnerships; 3) developing training pathways; 4) providing access to supportive services and 5) maintaining healthy, safe and respected workplaces.
