The Post-Tensioning Institute announced the winners of the 2025 PTI Project Awards, which were presented during the annual PTI Convention held in Phoenix, Arizona. The awards recognize the project of the year, awards of excellence and awards of merit in the categories of post-tensioned bridges, buildings, industrial or special applications, parking structures, repair, rehabilitation and strengthening and slab-on-ground construction.
The awards honor exceptional projects from around the world that demonstrate innovation, complexity, cost-effectiveness and aesthetics in post-tensioned concrete design and construction. The project entries are juried by an independent panel of industry professionals. This year’s winners are:
2025 Project Award winners:
Project of the Year
- One River North in Denver, Colorado (submitted by Jirsa Hendrick) — One River North, a 16-story apartment building, masterfully combined architectural innovation and natural elements with post-tensioned concrete to create a striking canyon-like façade and seamless urban design.
Bridges
- Award of Merit: Schuylkill River Trail Extension from Christian Street to Grays Ferry Crescent, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (submitted by PKF Mark III) — It is Pennsylvania’s first three-span cable-stayed concrete bridge, enhancing city connectivity with sustainable, post-tensioned design.
Buildings
- Award of Excellence: One River North (see Project of the Year description)
- Award of Merit: Koula, Honolulu, Hawaii (submitted by BASE) — A 41-story tower featuring modular post-tensioned slabs for architectural flexibility and efficiency, was recognized for sustainable urban innovation.
Industrial or Special Application
- Award of Excellence: Reviving Heritage: Surfside’s Journey from Historic Landmark to Luxury Haven, Surfside, Miami, Florida (submitted by Kline Engineering and Consulting) — The adaptive preservation project transformed a 1936 landmark into a modern luxury residence with advanced hybrid post-tensioning systems, seamlessly blending historical integrity and contemporary design.
- Award of Merit: Rodoparkki, Helsinki, Finland (submitted by RakenneStudio Oy / Structural Studio Ltd) — The hillside parking solution used post-tensioned beam-slab systems to address unique environmental and logistical challenges.
Parking Structures
- Award of Excellence: California State University, Los Angeles, Parking Structure E, Los Angeles, California (submitted by Walker Consultants) — The five-level, 2,200-space facility incorporated sustainable features such as rooftop solar panels and EV charging stations, built with post-tensioning for efficiency and innovation.
- Award of Merit: Circa Garage Mahal, Las Vegas, Nevada (submitted by Superior Post Tension) — The eight-story urban parking structure is noted for its open-plan, post-tensioned design and integration with the Circa Resort.
Repair, Rehabilitation and Strengthening
- Award of Excellence: The Landmark Plaza, Los Angeles, California (submitted by Structural Technologies) — The complex retrofit transformed a parking structure into a vibrant foundation for high-rise living and public green space, demonstrating advanced post-tensioning for urban redevelopment.
- Award of Merit: TSX Broadway, New York, New York (submitted by Structural Technologies/VSL) — An ambitious transformation in Times Square, the project featured post-tensioned transfer girders to support vertical expansion and historic preservation.
Slab-on-Ground
- Award of Excellence: APEX Motor Club Trackside Garages, Maricopa, Arizona (submitted by Superior Post Tension) — The nation’s first luxury trackside garages used innovative staged-stressed, joint-free post-tensioned slabs to support high-performance vehicles.
- Award of Merit: Amity Regional High School Track and Field Facility, Woodbridge, Connecticut (submitted by Classic Turf Company) — The high school track and field facility was reconstructed using joint-free post-tensioned slabs for sustainability, durability and long-term performance.
