Ribbon-Cutting Held for New Emergency Medical Services Base in Rolla, Missouri

A ribbon-cutting was held for Phelps Health’s new Emergency Medical Services base. Built by McCarthy Building Companies, the building replaces an aging EMS station and enhances emergency response capabilities in the region.

Located on the main Phelps Health campus in Rolla, Missouri, nestled in the heart of the Ozarks, approximately 105 miles south of St. Louis, the base was partially funded by a $4 million American Rescue Plan Act grant from the state of Missouri. Its strategic location brings EMS teams closer to the emergency department while maintaining easy access to I-44.

The 17,500-square-foot facility enhances Phelps Health’s emergency response capabilities, improves support for EMS personnel and elevates patient care across the region. Highlights include:

  • Eight ambulance bays (doubling capacity from the previous facility)
  • A second helicopter landing pad
  • Sixteen bunk rooms for EMS staff and Phelps Air crews
  • Dedicated training rooms and modern amenities to support continuing education and extended shifts
  • A tornado storm shelter to protect crews during severe weather.
