Balfour Beatty has been selected as a prequalified general contractor for Metrolink’s Southern California Optimized Rail Expansion program, positioning the company to compete for construction projects within the client’s transformative multi-billion-dollar rail modernization initiative.
The SCORE program represents one of the largest rail infrastructure investments in Southern California history, designed to upgrade Metrolink’s system for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond, while advancing the region’s zero-emissions goals. The comprehensive capital improvement plan encompasses construction of grade crossings, station and signal improvements, as well as extensive track construction across the Metrolink network.
Individual SCORE projects are expected to range from $10 million to $100 million in value, offering substantial opportunities for qualified contractors. The program’s scope includes critical infrastructure improvements designed to enhance capacity, reliability and environmental sustainability across the regional rail network.
