Ryan Companies Delivers Three Charter Schools in South Carolina, Louisiana

Ryan Companies US, Red Apple Development and Charter Schools USA announced the completion of three new charter school campuses. Ryan served as general contractor in partnership with RAD, developer of record, to deliver innovative, future-ready educational environments that align with the academic and operational goals of CSUSA and its affiliated charter foundations.

The new schools, which welcomed students this August, include:

  • Discovery School at Myrtle Beach (Conway, SC): A CSUSA-managed K-8 facility developed in partnership with the Charter Education Board of South Carolina. The 45,000-square-foot campus features open, collaborative spaces, personalized learning plans and accelerated academic tracks for middle school students, with a focus on social and emotional development.
  • Vermilion Charter Academy (Maurice, LA): A CSUSA-managed school developed in partnership with the Vermilion Charter Foundation. The 38,000-square-foot facility supports a STEM-focused curriculum and currently serves grades 6–9. It represents the first phase of a long-term K-12 campus plan that will grow by one grade per year through 2030.
  • Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy Middle School (Lafayette, LA): A CSUSA-managed expansion delivered in partnership with the Lafayette Charter Foundation. The 69,769-square-foot, two-story middle school serves grades 5–8 and adds a gym, track and field, bleachers, a concession building and a car-rider loop to a multi-campus complex that serves students from Pre-K through high school.

With construction on each project beginning last summer and completing in time for the 2025 school year, the campuses showcase Ryan’s ability to deliver complex developments on time and on budget. The projects also demonstrate customized design: multi-campus traffic and grade realignment planning in Lafayette, STEM-focused labs in Vermilion and accelerated academic learning environments at Myrtle Beach Prep Academy.

Ryan, RAD and CSUSA are also underway on a Florida Charter Education Foundation project in Sarasota, Florida — a new K-8 school and early learning center scheduled to open in 2026.

Together with RAD and CSUSA, Ryan has completed nearly 3.2 million square feet of K-12 schools across Florida, Louisiana, Tennessee and South Carolina over the past 15 years, strengthening communities across the Southeast through education.
