The 2013 Rookie of the Year Award winner is Amanda Jenkins, a member of NAWIC’s Richmond, Va. chapter. Jenkins is a sales engineer with Johnson Controls, Inc. and has worked in the construction industry for three years. She joined NAWIC in 2011 and, since joining, has served on a number of committees. She has recently joined her chapter’s board of directors.
Patricia Stagno, CUSP, CSHS will be recognized as NAWIC’s 2013 Member of the Year. Stagno is the president and owner of Powerskills for Life, LLC, a safety and training consulting firm based in New Hampshire. She has nearly 25 years of experience in the technical, safety and utility fields, and is well known as a subject matter expert on OSHA and electrical safe work practices. Stagno joined NAWIC in February of 2008 and is a member of the Granite State Chapter.
The winner of NAWIC’s 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award is Joyce Newman. Newman has left her mark on the construction industry over the past 30-plus years, including being a charter member of NAWIC’s Maine Chapter. Since joining NAWIC in August of 1979, Newman has recruited 36 new members and mentored countless women pursuing a career in construction. She is currently the membership coordinator for the Maine Better Transportation Association.
Jenkins, Stagno and Newman will be honored during the NAWIC Awards Gala at NAWIC’s 58th Annual Meeting and Educational Conference in Bellevue, Wash., Aug. 28-31. NAWIC members from across the country will gather at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue for the Conference, which will culminate with the Awards Gala at 7 p.m. on Aug. 31
