TCA Announces Winners of 2013 Alphonse J. Engelman Safety Awards

MT. VERNON, Iowa — The Tilt-Up Concrete Association recognized the winners of the Alphonse J. Engelman safety awards during TCA’s Annual Convention on Sept. 30 in Houston, Texas.

The Alphonse J. Engelman Safety Awards Program honors Al Engelman, a TCA past president and board member, as well as a long-time supporter of the tilt-up industry. Engelman helped introduce this industry awards program that now bears his name.

Developed to enhance the TCA’s overall mission to improve the industry through recognition and education, this program emphasizes the safety commitment and achievement throughout the membership. In 2007, this program was renamed “The Alphonse J. Engelman Safety Awards Program.”

“TCA’s safety committee has been hard at work on several new resources for the industry,” said Barclay Gebel, chair of the TCA Safety Committee. “These awards help draw attention to the program, our efforts and, of course, the success of those making safety their ultimate priority.”

TCA’s Safety Awards Program recognizes companies based on the following categories: Best Tilt-Up Safety Achievement Award, Most Improved Safety Achievement Award and Zero Lost Time Accident Achievement Award. This year’s winners include a variety of industry contractors:

  • Best Tilt-Up Safety Achievement Award/General Contractors: E.E. Reed Construction, L.P., Sugar Land, Texas and The Korte Company, Saint Louis, Mo.
