ST. LOUIS, Mo. – James Merritt has been named construction superintendent by Kadean Construction Company. Merritt, of St. Charles, Missouri, has more than 25 years of construction supervision experience, while also focusing on workplace safety, quality workmanship and meeting completion deadlines. His assignments range from local bridge work to $80-million projects with as many as 300 construction workers onsite.
Merritt will immediately serve as co-superintendent on Kadean’s interior build-out of the new Amazon facility at the Lakeview Commerce Center in Edwardsville, Illinois. He’s serving as co-superintendent with Kadean’s Benj Meyer due to the amount of extra coordination required on the project and to meet the stringent deadlines involved, said Kadean Construction Co. President Mike Eveler.
Before joining Kadean, Merritt worked as construction manager for Monsanto, where he oversaw reconstruction of the Lindbergh and G-Building bridges, the Labs & Growth Chambers and other work. With previous employers, Merritt worked on the Scottish Rite Parking Garage, the historic Paul Brown Building conversion to apartment units and the Lucas Lofts. Merritt also worked on Stations Casino, now the Ameristar Casino, St. Anthony’s Hospital’s Doctor’s Office Building, the Renaissance Grand Hotel in downtown St. Louis, the Advanced School of Dentistry, Humanities Building, Business School – Cook Hall and the Arches over Grand at St. Louis University.
