ST. LOUIS, Mo. — McCarthy Holdings, Inc. has signed a letter of intent to acquire St. Louis, Missouri-based Castle Contracting along with its subsidiary CastleGPS. Castle provides turnkey civil services, utilities, earthwork and trenchless technology directly to owners, general contractors and mechanical, electrical and plumbing contractors. Additionally, Castle’s GPS technology provides industry-leading subsurface 3-D utility mapping.
“McCarthy is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, and we continue our forward-looking approach that has helped the company thrive over the years,” explained McCarthy Central Division President Scott Wittkop. “Civil and infrastructure needs in our communities continue to grow. Our clients are asking for effective ways to approach these challenges. The specialized expertise of Castle Contracting and CastleGPS will bring critical value-added services under the McCarthy umbrella to improve client results.”
“The opportunities this presents for our business and employees are very exciting,” commented Castle Founder Julie Ledbetter. “Our two companies share similar values and beliefs about our approach to building; McCarthy’s leadership recognizes and appreciates that.”
Castle will become a subsidiary of McCarthy but continue as a standalone business under the Castle brand name. Upon completion of the acquisition, Mike Myers, a 13-year Castle veteran and its chief operating officer, will become vice president of operations reporting to Wittkop. He will continue to be responsible for day-to-day operations.
“The commitment and capabilities of our employees has placed us on the edge of truly remarkable possibilities,” Myers said. “Joining McCarthy is the next step in civil construction evolution.”
