Baker served on the board of ASCC and has made significant donations of people and monies to both the ASCC and its education and research foundation.
He was the first subcontractor to serve as president of the American Concrete Institute in 2001, emphasizing educating contractors and providing them opportunities within the Institute.
In 1991 Baker made a strong statement to his peers and to the construction industry in general, by officially naming safety as Baker's number one value. “Dan has influenced thousands of people and had a profound impact on concrete contracting,” said Bev Garnant, ASCC executive director. “It is our great pleasure to present him the ASCC Lifetime Achievement Award.”
