PCL Construction Services, Inc. recently broke ground on the KODA Condominiums in Seattle, Washington. This $81.5-million tower is the first new-construction, for-sale high-rise to be built in the area known as Nihonmachi or Japantown, the gateway to the historic Chinatown-International District.
KODA will feature 203 units within the building’s 17 stories. Two of the units are dedicated guest suites. The building will offer three levels of below-grade parking, various amenity spaces and retail at the street level.
Prior to the project’s approval and permitting, KODA faced review by the International Special Review District, a panel of community stakeholders that regulate design and development within the Chinatown-International District. This oversight by ISRD was established to help preserve the CID’s unique Asian American character and encourage the rehabilitation of areas for housing and pedestrian-oriented businesses.
As the first project in the U.S. for DA LI, KODA is expected to be complete in December 2020.
