McCarthy Holdings has promoted Billy Naylor to senior vice president of national safety. In this role, he will oversee the implementation of the company’s national safety program, including all company policies and procedures regarding safety. He will replace retiring senior vice president of national safety, Kevin Maitland.
Naylor joined McCarthy in 2006 and has nearly 30 years of construction experience. Prior to his promotion, he was vice president, safety for the Southern Region of McCarthy Building Companies, providing leadership for the company’s professional and skilled trade employees in Dallas, Texas Houston, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia. Before this, he was the safety director for the company’s Southwest Region. Naylor is a Certified Occupational Safety Specialist. Under his leadership, McCarthy has been awarded multiple Safety Through Exemplary Performance awards from the Associated Builders and Contractors. He was named TEXO’s Safety Professional of the Year in 2017.
Throughout his career, Naylor helped position McCarthy as one of the safest builders in America. In 2023, McCarthy achieved its lowest total project incident rate in company history. One of Naylor’s significant impacts to McCarthy’s safety approach has been helping shift away from a policy-driven safety program to the firm’s current safety-based approach built on creating accountability and personal ownership, cultivating a true safety culture. While under Naylor’s leadership, McCarthy’s Southwest and Southern regions improved safety performance consistently year over year.
Aside from his responsibilities at McCarthy, Naylor will be assuming the position as the company representative with the National Construction Safety Executives.
