Balfour Beatty has topped out two residential towers for JBG SMITH’s 2000 and 2001 South Bell Street project in Arlington, Virginia. The milestone represents ongoing progress on the development project, which supports the transformation of the National Landing area and provides additional residential options in the growing community.
To top out the east and west towers, Balfour Beatty teammates poured a total of 44,074 yards of concrete and set a total of 2,949 tons of steel rebar.
Once complete, the multifamily complex will accommodate 775 units offering a variety of floorplan options for different living situations. The 25-story, 2000 South Bell tower features a custom glass curtainwall façade and 355 apartment units; the adjacent 19-story, 2001 South Bell tower features a precast and brick façade with 420 units.
Both towers will include amenities with rooftop decks and pools set over a two-story garage podium. In addition to the construction of the residential buildings, an extension of South Bell Street will be delivered between the two towers to provide a roadway for public transportation.
Construction is ongoing with a scheduled completion of spring 2025.
