The Sundt Foundation recently awarded $20,000 in grants to three local Portland, Oregon nonprofits: Project LEDO, Division Midway Alliance and Girls Build.
Project LEDO received $5,000 to help bridge the digital divide by providing Title I students with hands-on computer-building and digital literacy training. This program empowers youth by equipping them with critical STEM skills that foster confidence, teamwork and problem-solving abilities — skills essential for future success in technology fields. By investing in students’ academic and career growth, Project LEDO contributes to long-term economic and community development in Portland’s underserved neighborhoods.
Division Midway Alliance was awarded $5,000 to provide essential support to vulnerable children and families. With this grant, the organization will supply school materials, warm clothing, food boxes and holiday gifts to children in need, ensuring they have the basics necessary to thrive and enjoy the season. These resources alleviate financial stress for families and allow young people to focus on their education and well-being.
Girls Build received a $10,000 grant to teach building skills to girls ages 8-15 facing significant life challenges. Through partnerships with domestic violence shelters, foster youth programs and local schools, Girls Build provides classes in carpentry, electrical work, plumbing and other trades. These experiences empower young girls, building their self-esteem and introducing them to career paths in the construction industry.
