Poettker Construction has launched a drone program to enhance pre-project planning, improve construction visibility, boost safety measures and increase operations efficiencies.
During testing, the new program has been a great asset during preconstruction. With drone technology, Poettker takes aerial images of potential projects, then places the proposed building plan onto the site. This helps clients better understand possible building placements on a property. The risk management department has also seen significant benefits with this program, as drones can quickly cover large areas and gather high-quality data. This enables the creation of a comprehensive data collection, including 3D models, thermal scans, surveys and more, allowing the risk management staff to focus on critical tasks.
Further, the drone program has strengthened the company’s quality assurance efforts, as this technology can safely and easily review progress from a distance. From monitoring powerlines and elevated structures, to scanning roofs and identifying leaks with thermal technology, drones provide on-site teams with a second review method, reducing rework and increasing efficiency. Customers also can monitor and view the progress of their project, no matter their location.
