Construction firm Robins & Morton celebrated the ribbon cutting of Fifth Third Park, a new 200,000-square-foot minor league baseball stadium, on April 3 in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
The 3,500-seat stadium is now home to the Hub City Spartanburgers of the South Atlantic League, a High-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. The stadium can accommodate up to 5,000 fans, and it features 12 premium suites, a 7,000-square-foot club and multi-purpose event space, concourse level boxes and an outfield berm in deep left field.
Beyond baseball, the venue is designed to host a variety of events such as outdoor concerts, festivals and community gatherings.
The project also included a six-level, 230,000-square-foot parking garage with 650 spaces. The garage, which is connected to the stadium, is anchored by the Spartanburgers’ team store, ticket office and future retail space that opens up to the new plaza.
The stadium welcomed its first visitors and two hometown teams April 1 as the Wofford Terriers and University of South Carolina Upstate Spartans faced off. The Hub City Spartanburgers hosted their home opener April 15, beginning the first season of many that will bring the community together.
Robins & Morton served as the general contractor, and McMillan Pazdan Smith was the architect.
