WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Urgo Hotels is moving forward with a significant renovation and expansion program for the Marriott Ocean Point Beach Resort project located in Pompano Beach, Fla. Suffolk Construction has been awarded the $21.7-million construction and expansion project, which will add 119 guest rooms to the hotel.
The overall plan includes a complete renovation to the existing 100-unit North Tower, with upgrades to all rooms. The project scope will also feature extensive updates to the lobby, common areas, porte-cochere, the restaurant as well as the addition of new site amenities. The existing pool will receive a complete makeover as well as adding a second larger pool and spa and new hardscape and landscaping throughout to meet the latest Marriott design standards.
“We"re extremely pleased to be chosen for this exciting project, which is a premier oceanfront property.” said Chris Kennedy, vice president of Suffolk Construction's Southeast Commercial Group. “We have an extensive portfolio of projects with the Marriott Companies who have a high set of standards and always command top quality on all of their projects, and we look forward to working with Urgo Hotels and their partners The Carlyle Group.”
New construction, being built adjacent to the existing tower, includes a two-story, cast-in-place parking garage that will serve as the podium for the new six-story, 119-room tower and Central Utility Plant which will service both towers. The project consists of a new grand ballroom, with open-air event deck above, new exercise facility, meeting rooms, and management space.
The project designed by Adache Group Architects is anticipated to begin construction later this month.
