The Dwight D. Eisenhower Award, presented to one company in each of the SBA’s 10 regions, is the premier small business recognition award from the SBA. It recognizes large prime contractors that have excelled in their utilization of small, disadvantaged and women-owned businesses as suppliers and subcontractors. According to the SBA, more than half of Americans who work either own or work for a small business.
The SBA recognized Mortenson’s “hard work, innovative ideas and dedication to the community” in selecting the company for the prestigious award. Mortenson’s Federal Contracting Group currently awards more than 75 percent of its total subcontracted dollars to small, women-owned and disadvantaged businesses.
“We are honored to be recognized by the SBA with this award,” said Mark Ruffino, vice president and general manager of Mortenson’s Federal Contracting Group. “Mortenson is a family-owned business that got its start at a kitchen table so we understand the importance of opportunity in the marketplace. We deeply value our business partnerships.”
