TORRANCE, Calif. – Lendlease received temporary certificate of occupancy of the new Kinesiology and Fitness Complex at El Camino College, Torrance, California, just in time for the 2016 Commencement Ceremony. Lendlease managed the construction of the new Kinesiology and Fitness Complex which included the replacement of the deteriorating Murdock Stadium, originally built in 1949. This project included the construction of a modern stadium to support the college’s outstanding athletic programs and kinesiology classes. Dodge Momentum Index Moves Higher in May
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Dodge Momentum Index rose 2.4 percent in May to 119.4 from its revised April reading of 116.6 (2000=100). The momentum index is a monthly measure of the first (or initial) report for nonresidential building projects in planning, which have been shown to lead construction spending for nonresidential buildings by a full year. The increase for the index in May was due to a 6.5 percent gain for projects entering planning in the commercial sector, which more than offset a 3.4 percent decline for such projects in the institutional sector. Construction Headcount Dips in May, Qualified Workers are Scarce
Construction employment dipped for the second consecutive month in May, but rising industry pay and plunging unemployment suggest contractors would be hiring more workers if they were available, according to a recent analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America.
