WASHINGTON, D.C. — Carhartt recently donated $100,000 to Helmets to Hardhats, a nonprofit program designed to help active-duty military service members, reservists and veterans successfully transition back into civilian life by offering the means to secure a quality career in the building and trade industry. Gadomski earned the new role of superintendent by successfully completing more than 400,000 square feet in projects during his two years at PREMIER. New Construction Disappoints in Second Quarter

ATLANTA, Ga. — U.S. construction starts came in below expectations during the second quarter, held back by disappointing business investment. Both residential and nonresidential sectors underperformed relative to forecast, according to construction data provider CMD's latest quarterly report. The forecast, which combines CMD's proprietary data with macroeconomic factors, showed total starts performing lower than expected primarily due to the sluggish U.S. economy at the beginning of the second quarter.
